RAVEN'S AEROSTAR SUBSIDIARY ANNOUNCES INITIAL DELIVERY ORDERS UNDER FIVE-YEAR PARACHUTE CONTRACT

SIOUX FALLS, S.D., Aerostar International,Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Raven Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq: RAVN), announced today that it has been awarded $12.2 million under a five-year, IDIQ (indefinite delivery indefinite quantity) contract for the production of US Army
T-11 personnel parachutes.  The parachutes under this first order are expected to ship during the fiscal year beginning February 2010. The contract is expected to have annual releases that will continue through 2014. (read more)

RAVEN’S AEROSTAR SUBSIDIARY ANNOUNCES SUCCESSFUL FLIGHT OF NASA PROTOTYPE SUPER-PRESSURE BALLOON IN ANTARCTICA

SIOUX FALLS, SD—Aerostar International, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Raven Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq NGS: RAVN), announced today a seven million cubic foot prototype super-pressure balloon, built for NASA's Balloon Program, has surpassed two weeks of near constant altitude flight over the Antarctic continent.  This flight marks the next milestone in NASA’s plans to develop a vehicle to fly heavy scientific payloads at the edge of space for periods up to 100 days. AEROSTAR IS THE MANUFACTURER OF THE NEW NASA BALLOON SUCCESSFULLY FLIGHT-TESTED OVER ANTARCTICA

WASHINGTON -- NASA and the National Science Foundation have successfully launched and demonstrated a newly designed super pressure balloon prototype that may enable a new era of high-altitude scientific research. The super-pressure balloon ultimately will carry large scientific experiments to the brink of space for 100 days or more.  (read more)
