Super Pressure Balloons
High Altitude Research
The Super Pressure Balloon (SPB) is a high altitude research balloon being developed in partnership with NASA.
When fully developed, they will be able to carry payloads to flight altitudes greater than 100,000 feet and stay at a constant altitude, through the design, without the use of ballast. The ability to stay aloft for days or weeks without a change in altitude or the need to carry ballast will propel scientific research ahead by leaps and bounds. Several smaller sizes have been vetted, and larger sizes which carry heavier payloads aloft are in production.
